Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) Program – Alberta

The Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) Program is a provincial program in Alberta that provides funding and support services to help adults with developmental disabilities live as independently and inclusively as possible in their communities.

What is the PDD Program

The PDD Program is funded by the Government of Alberta and is designed to support adults (18 years and older) with developmental disabilities by providing access to services, resources, and funding that promote independence, safety, and community inclusion.

Who is Eligible

To qualify for the PDD Program in Alberta, individuals must:

  • Be 18 years or older

  • Be a resident of Alberta

  • Have a developmental disability (such as intellectual disability, autism, or related conditions)

  • Have significant limitations in daily living skills

Eligibility is determined through an application and assessment process conducted by PDD.

Service Covered Under PDD

The PDD Program supports a wide range of services, including:

Home Living Supports

  • Assistance with daily living at home

  • Shared living or staffed residential supports

Community Access Supports

  • Participation in social, recreational, and community activities

  • Skill development and inclusion programs

Employment Supports

  • Job readiness training

  • Supported employment opportunities

Respite Services

  • Temporary relief for families and caregivers
